Board of Directors

  • Cristy Lyng

    President

Cristy has more than 37 years of personal and professional experience in addiction and recovery. She has been a psychiatric social worker at Kaiser Permanente for the past 24 years. Her role there revolves around supporting women during and after their pregnancies. She specializes in substance abuse and mental health, including postpartum depression. Her passion for helping women to become their healthiest selves led Cristy to found the Sisterhood of Sobriety in 2012, with the help of a benefactor and former colleague, Dr. Michael Jordan.

Now a highly respected sober living environment (SLE) in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Sisterhood created a paradigm shift in SLEs by requiring prospective residents to meet clear and objective standards, informed by Cristy’s own work. With the goal of expanding women’s access to recovery education and sober living, Cristy turned the Sisterhood of Sobriety into a 501(c)3, non-profit organization in 2022. She has since built a volunteer team dedicated to expanding the Sisterhood’s effective program of alcoholism and addiction recovery and to helping as many women as our resources will allow.
